1/28/09 Dear Young Man: Greetings. I send this email as a somber warning to stay as disconnected from the internet as possible. I was going to open an Alibris store, but I'm not going to. I am determined to not even fill out the blanks on line with my information. I know this thing (the internet) is sucking in the whole world, but there is life outside of it. I went without it for over a year and planned to never get back on it. I liked living without it. Have your atlas of the United States--and know how to use it. Hannah had to use the atlas to plan our trip to Philadelphia last year. Mapquest is making children and adults even more foolish and dependent and stuck in small geographic areas without knowledge of the whole. Malware is bringing industry to its knees--see the link below at the end of this email. It came from my webhost, the best webhost you can get. Please, let yourself not surf. Go to the few trusted sites you know of, and even let them go. Print off the materials that you want and start (or add to) your choice library, get off the internet... If you have a bank account, bank the old fashioned way--go to the bank. One of these e-cards (debit cards, smart cards) is becoming almost a necessity--be careful with it. Keep an account that is not connected to an e-card, just transfer money to the "dummy e-card account" and use that card. There is a lot of fraud according to my banker. She had suggested that I elect for the fraud protection on my checks, I declined, but I am vigilant. I have accounts for which I have either no checks or the starter checks I was given. Better yet, desire and work toward a self-sustaining homestead where if you never leave your home, it is not even a problem. Learn to have a set up without any electricity, etc. Know how to gather from the land and withstand the ravages of the weather. Learn how to cherish your animals and tend to them--they have food needs too and they can dovetail with your own. They can also get out there and eat brush--some of those weeds can kill them though...just work on knowing. What do you like to eat? Grow it. Milk and eggs are superfoods. Learn about the chicken and the goat. Learn one thing at a time. If you're ever interested, write and I'll tell you the collection of things I think that I know. My daughter has selected the name for our homestead, "Family Farms" Perfect. A family flock of chickens. A family flock of goats. Seed savings. Generations. The seed is in itself, save it, cherish it, live by it. I feel called to eat food that I grow, maybe even exclusively. I still have some of the harvest--and although there is snow on the ground, there are carrots and sweet potatoes out there and a couple of organic red potatoes sprouting on the counter just waiting for the ground to soften so that I can plant them. In a five by five plot, you can grow enough potatoes to have one every day of the year. It takes surprisingly little for a man to live on. Figure out what your needs are and develop a plan for your own "Nourishing Garden". Be careful. Always live free of debt. If you purchase a home, seek to purchase it outright--when hard times come, you will have a place to live. Owning your own home may sound like a tall order at this time, but God is able to provide for you. Right now you are in school with no job. You may feel trapped. My brother, grow where you are planted. That is what I do. You may want to be free. So do I, but I am not free of my circumstances nor am I free from my troubling past and my present. What do I do? I keep moving. You keep moving. Keep your eyes and heart open--God will show you what to do. Wait patiently. You are not expected to make rash decisions. Deliberate, discuss things with the Father. Keep reading and praying. Be willing to let go of the people and things that you need to let go of. Be bold and fearless as you walk in the truth and God will be with you. He has been with me, he will be with you--just remain faithful--you will never regret it. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. And he that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son... Revelation 21:1-7 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. An he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. Revelation 22:1-7 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said unto me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:13-17 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. Hebrews 10:35 We groan, but this is not for ever. It has an end. Work while it is day, the night is upon us and soon no man can work. You are young. If you heed this advice in this email, you will avoid many, many troubles, and you will live free. You are blessed and highly favoured of the Lord to hear these things in this day. Do not take this counsel in vain. It will help you to live as a free man, independent with sound principles and lifestyle, not some homeborn, dependent slave. Mephibosheth
