Lightly edited.] 1/25/09 Dear Young Man: ...One other item. If EVERYTHING that we've been taught is wrong because it was not based on the scriptures, how much room is there for you to make a meaningful contribution to existing scholarship? IS NOT EVERY DOMAIN OPEN FOR CORRECTION? Do you think that it is by mistake that we realize this, or do you think God is going to break open new territory for us? You mentioned zero a few emails back. Zero messes us up. It messed me up--I fear for life. I once jotted down a title, "Life Without Zero". I wanted to pull on a child's innate COUNTING ability without paper and pencil algorithms--without "the Greek way". There is another way to count. I distinguish between COUNTING and MATHEMATICS and have done so from the beginning of our schooling. COUNTING is a Bible word. My sending scripture for teaching Counting was Count the number of the beast. Counting is a command, so I taught my daughter to count up and down the numberline. I taught her the four basic operations of mathematics which are, indeed, found right in the scriptures. I always distinguished counting from mathematics. I would use the word, "mathematics" so that people could understand me but in my mind, it was counting. That liberated me because mathematics was too hard, but I could count. But all these years later, last year, specifically, I finally realized Mathematics is a counting path. Geometry, etc. is hard for many because we are simply memorizing somebody else's counting path. The Greek counting path. The innate ability of a man to count has been overidden by all these zeros, place values, postulates, theorems, hocus-pocus, quantam theorem, FOIL, quadratic formula, algebra, Calculus III, derivative, integral, hodge-podge-guess-what-I-am-trying-to-say-or-you-get-an-F-you-are- not-smart-so-you-get-a-C-for-getting-50%-of-the-paper-pencil-algorithms-right, Geometric, you-took-this-class-and-you-still-can't-build useless mathematics for the useless man. I believe that what we call place value does not have to be taught if someone is taught properly. In our Deaf Studies, we came across the deaf manual counting system. I modified it. I can teach a baby to count to any number with their hands. One billion is one finger and three hops, each hop representing a thousand. Hannah could have EASILY learned this little system WITH BUILT-IN PLACE VALUE at THREE years old. I didn't know to teach her Calculus (calculus means stone--I've seen methods by which people at Jamestowne used stones to count like people count on an abacus) when she was teeny. We have been robbed, plundered and DEPRIVED OF OUR REASON. I did not have to grow up as ignorant and messed up as I did. I feel like King James' title is for me, "Triplici nodo, triplex cuneus" -- "To the triple knot, a triple wedge". The knots were three confounded letters--two from the pope and one from Cardinall Bellarmine, his champion. The triple wedge was King James' three responses--each response untying a confounded knot. We've learned knots, confounded knots of bound up lies all tangled up in my head! I've got to untie them through steady application of the scriptures. If EVERYTHING that we've been taught is wrong, how much room is there for you to make a meaningful contribution to current scholarship? Is there not infinite room to use your EXQUISITE MIND, young man? If God wills that you live a long time, are there not MANY YEARS for you to work the hammer (the scripture) in order to untangle the knots? Whatever your domain of scholarship is, cannot God show you the true fundamentals underlying it? Cannot he take you on a journey of his entire creation and point out to his son, what EVERY SINGLE THING IS?????????????? CAN HE???????????????????????????? CAN HE????????????????????? OF COURSE, HE CAN! [WRITE A LITTLE BOOK] And as he shows you a particular, can you write a little book in the very SIMPLEST language imaginable? So simple that a child can understand it? Years ago, a woman told me, "When you write for attorneys, write so simply that a kindergartner can understand it." That advice has served me well through the years. It makes you break down information into easily digestible pieces. This idea of examining and reformatting and discovering and recording REALITY and TRUTH is called, Biblical Scholarship. [RUN & RECORD] It is a DISTINCTIVELY Biblical scholarship. We are using the Bible to lead us out of deception and BACK to what the ancients already knew. We will take back with us what they did not know in terms of the invisible world, e.g., the germ theory of disease, etc. But even the invisible world of micro-organisms has been mistaught and misunderstood. Our classifications of living creatures into five families and all that is wrong. Genesis 1 days 3, 5, and 6 give the proper classifications. We just have to figure out where these little "beasties" as they used to call them, fit in. I think the word "beastie" itself tells you what those [earlier] scientists thought of them. [AN ALTAR] Biblical scholarship is an altar on which you can lay your spiritual sacrifices. There is room for you to serve on this altar, in your own region (spiritual and physical). It is not dependent on me, by any means. If you never talk to me again, that altar is there, you are open to it now. Get your footing and make your sacrifices on it. But at this time, you do talk to me. Who am I and what do I think myself to be? I see myself as a curator in the museum of Biblical Scholarship. I also see myself as a librarian and a clearinghouse.
